For more than 40 years, Janice has been encouraging people to discover the power of music. A graduate of Birmingham and York Universities, she has led music in both primary and secondary schools, always with the same mission: to make music a visible strength within the school community, raising aspiration and bringing people together.
In the community, she has founded and led several vocal groups, including Hull Choral Union Junior Chorus, the City of York Council Staff Choir, and Eastern Lights WI Choir, creating opportunities for those with little or no previous experience to sing. She is also the founder and former co-leader of Northern Rose Voices.
Continuing her passion for inclusive music-making, Janice now delivers Boomwhacker® workshops in schools and community settings, working with all ages from young children to older adults. She loves how these visually engaging instruments can help everyone build the confidence to unlock their musical potential, without needing any advanced music skills.
Her first book, Boomwhacker® Basics, will be published in August 2026.
