Sonia Maurer - viola

Sonia Maurer studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno, where she won the Butler Prize for viola and the Dorothy Adams string quartet prize. She went on to postgraduate study with Diemut Poppen at the Musikhochschule Saarbrücken, Germany.

Sonia played in the European Youth Orchestra and Regelsberger Kammerorchester. She has also been, at various points of her career, the viola player of the Juventus, Biticus and Nauweiser string quartets.

Since moving to South Wales, she has played with Welsh National Opera, Sinfonia Cymru and the Gwalia Ensemble.
